A lot of monitoring and control happens in the hand. We do not treat the mobile app as separate from the service behind it.

Signing in, reading status, sending a command, and offline behavior where the project actually needs it are part of the same job. If the phone is only a window onto another system, we say that plainly and spend the effort on keeping the two in step.
